Classroom Policy
Classroom Motto:
To unify the class and help my students understand the purpose of my curriculum I want to have a classroom motto. Believe, Act, Serve, Endure which stands for BASE in base camp. Base camps are places along the trails of long high adventure climbs. The purpose of a base camp is to refresh yourself, rest, and replenish your supplies. I want my classroom to be a base camp in the lives of my students, where they can come replenish their life skills and prepare to ascend the rest of the mountain of life.

Attention Getter: I believe...
To get the attention of my class I want to encourage them to participate, and feel apart of the process of reining everyone back in. The idea was taken from USA's FIFA World Cup chant "I believe that we will win." It would be something like this:
Me: I believe...
Students: I believe...
Me: I believe, act...
Students: I believe, act...
Me: I believe, act, serve...
Students: I believe, act, serve...
Me and my student: I believe, act, serve, endure. I believe, act, serve, endure. I believe, act, serve, endure.

Roses and Thorns
I will have in my classroom a large single silk rose. This rose is symbolic for love and unity. Anytime someone makes a negative comment they are giving someone or something a thorn; and my rule is for every thorn given there must be a rose, a positive comment or compliment. This will allow unity and a positive attitude in my classroom.

Learning Styles Quiz
At the beginning of each year I will have all of my students take a learning style quiz. This way I can tailor my classroom to my students needs. If I have a higher percentage of kinesthetic learners then I will have more hands on moving in my class. How I teach depends on what my students need to learn.

Adventure is Out There
Every Monday I will set aside time for my students to share the adventures they had with their families over the weekend. This will allow my students to feel they can express themselves and I value them as well as the things they do outside of school. From there I will try to find a way to tie their adventures into a previous lesson and the lesson we are about to start.

Read Till Your Next Aha!
When we read something together in class I will encourage my students to raise their hands and to express their light bulb moments. We will then all discuss what they've learned, this way they can start to think about how what they are learning applies to their personal lives.

Reflections
I will set aside time occasionally for students to quietly reflect and study the lesson in class. The time set aside will only be for about ten minutes. They can spread out through out the classroom keeping five feet between them and their neighbor. This way they are discouraged to talk with one another and they can reflect internally. I want them to take the time to understand what they are learning and why it will help their lives now and in the future.
